Stephen Amell sets the record straight on Justice League

Arrow star Stephen Amell has responded -- sharply -- to that report that he has "had discussions" about appearing in Justice League.

It was Tuesday (Jan. 21) that a story surfaced in which Amell seemed to suggest that he had been in talks about his version of Green Arrow crossing over to make an appearance in the long-rumored and all-but-likely Justice League movie, which will presumably follow 2016's Batman/Superman flick.

But after that story ricocheted around the Web faster than Barry Allen, Amell took to his Facebook page to tell the world that whatever he actually said had been either seriously misconstrued or purposely taken way out of context:

When I do press, I try and be open, honest and thoughtful. That being said... I find it incredibly discouraging to see a headline like the ones I've been seeing this morning. Headlines that aren't just a stretch, they're totally fabricated. At no point, have I had "studio level" discussions about any feature films at Warner Bros.

In this particular instance, when I read articles that take a pretty straightforward answer and slap a title on it that has little to no correlation to what I've actually said, it makes it seem as though I'm disrespecting my current position. Which is bulls***. And why would I do that?...would I really just casually subvert a process cloaked in secrecy? A process -- by the way -- being run by the company who currently employs me. C'MON!

We're making a kick ass show. We will continue to make a kick ass show. And I will continue to interact and provide interesting content for our fans. Because I love our fans. If every once and a while, some d***weed wants to pull a headline out of thin air to generate page views, then that's the price we pay.

That pretty much amounts to a beatdown, doesn't it? Interestingly, the part of the quote about having "discussions" as it appeared in the original story has now vanished, indicating that the reporter himself didn't quite have the courage to stand behind what he wrote.

With Arrow doing so well and anchoring itself so much in the DC universe, it certainly would make sense if Amell's Oliver Queen eventually did show up in that Justice League movie, whenever it finally hits the screen. But the star is adamant that he's had no "discussions" about it -- yet -- and that anything you read to the contrary is false.

Can't trust the press with anything these days, can you?
