OMG! Iron Man fan makes working gauntlet armor that shoots lasers!

Admittedly, it kind of sucks that we can't make our own Iron Man suit and fly around killing bad guys. But one fan has gotten about as close as anyone to being Tony Stark—and he has his own laser-shooting gauntlet arm-glove to prove it.

The extremely handy Marvel fan Patrick Priebe built his own gauntlet, complete with retractable laser gun. It probably couldn't kill anybody (and it doesn't have a missile cache tucked in there), but it does pop a series of balloon targets with ease.

He made the entire mechanism by hand and armed it with two 1.2-watt blue lasers. The lasers blast out of the forearm and the palm repulsor, and the whole thing is powered by two lithium-ion batteries. Even cooler? He also added some targeting lasers to aim before opening up the "big" guns.

Here's how Priebe described the project via CNET:

"Back in the day, I was fascinated by lasers. It all started with the older Battlestar Galactica movies. In 2003 or so, I had some time to tinker a bit. I made some coil guns and lasers. Someone saw my 'first' pulse laser gun on YouTube and asked for one. The white pulse laser gun got 1 million hits...within the first month! Generally, I have crazy ideas and it seems I have the skills to make it idea how, actually. I never make real plans. I just tinker."

Sadly, this gauntlet is a one of a kind, but how long will it be until someone mass-produces these bad boys?
