Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez are on a roll. After snagging Joseph Gordon-Levitt for their sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, they've added another actor to the cast. This time, they're swapping out one Oscar nominee for another.
Dimension Films has confirmed that Josh Brolin will headline the all-star ensemble. The actor will play Dwight, a role previously filled by Clive Owen in the 2005 film. But don't worry, Dwight's new look is storyline-dictated.
In Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to "The Big Fat Kill" (featured in the film Frank Miller's Sin City) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.
The infamous "Dame" has yet to be cast, but Rodriguez and Miller are excited about Brolin's arrival. "Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and A Dame To Kill For is a defining episode in his life. We're looking forward to Josh's take on Dwight," said the co-directors.
The actor joins fellow newbies Gordon-Levitt as Johnny, Dennis Haysbert as Manute, Jamie Chung as Miho and Christopher Meloni, who was recently cast as a cop.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For hits theaters Oct. 4.
