Rumor of the Day: James Cameron's got a part in Avatar 2 for Ahnold

The Terminator and his creator might be reuniting at last.

James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger's collaboration on The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day played a huge part in making them both cinema icons, but the pair haven't worked together since 1994's True Lies. Schwarzenegger's been busy trying to jumpstart the Terminator franchise, working on numerous other film projects and, of course, being governor of California, while Cameron was deep-sea diving and winning Oscars for things like Titanic and Avatar. Now it seems the pair might reunite after two decades.

Latino Review says it's got "top level sources" reporting that Schwarzenegger is on board to be the "bad guy human general" in Cameron's Avatar 2, which will supposedly finally get its production rolling next year. No word yet on how exactly he'll fit in to the second film's story, but Cameron has hinted in the past that the humans might not be gone from Pandora for good, so Schwarzenegger could be leading a new invasion force out.

That is, if this report turns out to be true. Schwarzenegger did say earlier this year that he'd be interested in working with Cameron again someday soon, but if we've learned anything from the last four years, it's that you really can't count on anything when it comes to the Avatar franchise. If it is true, though, it could add even more box-office energy to the sequel to the highest-grossing film ever made.

What do you think? Are you ready to see another Schwarzenegger/Cameron collaboration at last?
