Lucy Lawless shares the dream plot that could bring back Xena

Despite her rather final farewell, Xena may yet return for more -- and this is how Lucy Lawless wants it to go down.

Xena: Warrior Princess was a weird show. It'd have to be -- it was called Xena: Warrior Princess. But it was also fun, silly, irreverent, full of strong women and, frankly, better in every way than the show from which it was spawned.

It ended in a pretty final way. [Spoiler ahead!] When you decapitate your hero and cremate her, that's kind of it. Game over. Hasta luego. Vaya con Dios.

Except of course that we're talking about a world governed by gods, most of whom have a twisted sense of humor. So we never said never ever to the idea of Xena returning one day. It turns out Lucy Lawless feels the same way.

Back in May, Lawless hinted that someone was looking to "invigorate the Xena brand." Now she's talking about how she'd want to see Xena come back.

In my dreams it would be that Renee [O'Connor, who played Gabrielle] and I, and Ted [Raimi], who played Joxer, would come back and basically stick Xena's head back on her and go on a quest. At the end you introduce this new Warrior Princess, hand it over and let them run with it. So we could put the family back together, give the fans what they want, reinvigorate the brand and hand it on to a new generation.

Sure, there would have to be some explanation as to why Xena aged while she was dead, but if you're a fan of Xena to begin with, we can't imagine you struggle much with suspension of disbelief.

As ever, the major roadblock is over rights. There's apparently a "glitch" over who owns the rights. As with so many series, there may never be a resolution.

But you never know! Lucy Lawless is at least as tough as the warrior princess she played on television 15 years ago. She wants it, we want it -- lead on, Lucy. We'll follow your lead.
