It’s a bit of an urban legend how Samuel L. Jackson got a role in the Star Wars prequels — basically, he begged George Lucas to put him in somewhere, and eventually became the badass Jedi warrior Mace Windu — but it turns out there’s even more to the story we’ve never heard.
In a great interview on the Graham Norton Show, Jackson recounted how he talked Lucas into putting him into the movie. But once he was in it, he wanted to be able to track himself during an epic fight scene. So he talked Lucas into giving him a purple lightsaber so he could find himself on screen.
But he apparently also made a few changes to the lightsaber prop itself. Jackson claims he has an inscription on the handle that says: "Bad Motherf**ker."
Well, of course he does. This being Jackson, it's hard to tell if he’s serious or joking, but he claims it's true. Most likely? We’re inclined to believe him.
