Jackson explains why there'll be no Hobbit at Comic-Con in bittersweet video

Peter Jackson just released an awesome new video blog for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug; and it’s the first one to be released in 2013.

As some of you already know, there sadly won’t be a San Diego Comic-Con panel for The Hobbit this year. So it’s really cool of director Peter Jackson to explain at great length why there will be no presence for the film there.

The new blog catches up with the actors and the behind-the-scenes wizards (makeup, stunts, that sort of thing) six to seven months after the movie wrapped for what's called pickup shooting.

It’s really cool to see more of what’s coming up for our Company of Dwarves along with Bilbo (Martin Freeman) and the the Elvish characters—Thranduil (Lee Pace), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly). And Jackson is being a total tease by mentioning the Battle of the Five Armies, which will only be seen in the third film.

But at least we got another great look at Bard the Bowman, played by Luke Evans, and we got a heck of a kick out of that incredibly HILARIOUS workout session with the actors playing our beloved dwarves that would put Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" music video to shame.

Are you getting excited to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug?
