So here's the truth behind those rumors of a new Predator flick

There’s been a lot of hype that a new Predator movie could be announced at San Diego Comic-Con, and now we finally know what all the buzz was about.

The franchise’s official Facebook page posted a tantalizing image that got many fans wondering if a sequel to the solid 2010 sci-fi flick Predators, or a full-fledged reboot of the original, might be in the works.

Well, bad news: It doesn’t look like we’ll be getting a new Predator flick. Instead, the 1987 original is being remastered and released in Blu-ray 3D. Which is cool, I guess, but not as cool as a new movie.

To build some buzz, they’re allowing Comic-Con attendees to have a 3D-printed figurine of their severed head being held by a Predator as part of a $129.99 limited-edition release. The regular, Blu-ray 3D version will be available for $49.99.

Admittedly, that’s a great bit of marketing-fu — but a Predator sequel (or remake) would’ve been better news. Oh well, at least we can watch classic Arnie battle it out with space’s greatest warrior in 3D!
