Jackman explains Wolverine's journey in 3+ mins of new footage

Some new footage from James Mangold’s The Wolverine has been released, along with some revealing interviews with the cast and crew explaining what we can expect from the latest X-Men spinoff.

Fittingly, the featurette is dubbed “A Ronin’s Story,” referring to the Japanese word for a samurai who has lost his lord or master and becomes directionless.

The new footage shows off some new action sequences, along with some character shots that tease a little more of Mangold’s darker tone. It looks good, and anything to differentiate this flick from the absolute mess that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a good thing.

Check out the footage, spliced in with some interviews with Mangold and star Hugh Jackman, below:

The Wolverine opens July 26. Do you plan on checking it out?
