Adorable pic shows Guardians director takes his Rocket Raccoon research seriously

A lot of the buzz behind Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has revolved around how he’ll bring the larger-than-life team (which includes an anthropomorphic raccoon) to life. As a new behind-the-scenes pic shows, director James Gunn is having a whole lot of fun figuring it all out.

Gunn has posted a pic of him shaking hands with an adorable domesticated raccoon. Just imagine this little guy with a smartass attitude and a bazooka — and he might make one heck of a Rocket Raccoon.

It’s nice to see that Gunn isn’t taking things too seriously, but you have to admit the pressure is certainly on to get this one very, very right. It marks Marvel’s first foray into the deep comic canon, and will be the first film set almost exclusively in space. As DC’s recent Green Lantern flop showed, that’s not an easy feat to pull off.

But, for now, let’s keep our hopes high and marvel at Gunn’s commitment to getting Rocket Raccoon just right.
