Amazing Spidey star joins cast of Elementary ... as Sherlock's brother!

From giant, evil lizard to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Rhys Ifans is trading up.

Rhys Ifans had big shoes to fill when he took on the part of Curt Connors in The Amazing Spider-Man, but his move to the small screen is anything but small.

When Elementary resumes next season, it will see Holmes return to London in order to revisit an old case. There he will be forced to face a man with whom he shares a great deal of bad blood. In fact, this man and Sherlock share blood in more than one way -- they're brothers.

Yes, Ifans will be taking on the role of Mycroft Holmes, and executive producer Robert Doherty couldn't be more pleased.

I could not be more excited to have Rhys coming aboard. I've always been a tremendous fan and feel very honored to have him in the fold. Equally excited are Jonny and Lucy, both of whom have worked with Rhys in feature films. I think this is going to be a lot of fun for all of us.

So what do you think? Is Ifans the right fit for Mycroft?
