The sequel to Mark Millar's violent and darkly humorous take on costumed heroes looks even better than the original.
Kick-Ass was one of those comics that every comic-book junkie was reading in single issues. It was a title that turned the cape-and-tights genre on its ear -- like Watchmen meets The Pro, but as told by your conservative uncle. And while most comics require major reconstructive surgery to be adapted to the big screen, Kick-Ass seemed born to be a movie.
And that first Kick-Ass movie was a perfect adaptation of the source material. Meanwhile, Kick-Ass 2, in comic form, was another solid tale, but this time the cast was bigger, and so, naturally, were the stakes. That makes for a tricker film adaptation, but, if this latest trailer is any indication, we're in for the best beating of our lives.
It's good to see all the characters (who are still alive) back in action. Jim Carrey looks like he'll be chewing the hell out of that scenery, but hey, this is Kick-Ass -- scenery chewing is a requirement.
