New Winter Soldier set pics reveal Captain America's new suit

There were rumblings that Captain America would be rocking a redesigned suit in Winter Soldier, and some new set pics give us our first look at the new duds in action.

Yes, the suit is a whole lot bluer than the old one — and bears a striking resemblance to the Super Soldier comic version that showed up in Secret Avengers. The pics show Cap’s big screen stunt double cruising on a motorcycle while sporting the new look, as well as some scattered shots of the Winter Soldier and Black Widow.

So, why the new look? We don’t know for sure, though Joblo is reporting the suit is Cap’s new S.H.I.E.L.D. outfit he wears into battle while working with Nick Fury and company. They’re also claiming the sequel will bring the original suit from The First Avenger back into play through what sounds like a hilariously great break-in at the Smithsonian.

Here’s an excerpt from their report explaining the new suit:

"This is Cap's S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform (obviously) but for circumstances unknown (either it getting destroyed or Cap hating it), at some point in the film, Steve breaks into the Smithsonian and steals back his 40's uniform. So for all of us that loved the Johnston suit, Captain America will be back in it by the end of the movie. Sort of takes the sting away from this lameness."

Check out the new suit in the gallery below and let us know what you think about the redesign.
