Finally! Fly through space in 1st footage from Cuaron's Gravity

Gravity - ET Trailer Preview (HD) Sandra Bullock, George Clooney

George Clooney and Sandra Bullock are lost (well, stuck!) in space.

It’s a year late, sure, but it’s finally here: The first footage from Alfonso Cuarón’s (Children of Men) new sci-fi epic Gravity.

The film stars Clooney and Bullock as astronauts at a damaged space station, and the first snippet of footage looks absolutely amazing. The full trailer doesn’t drop until Thursday, but an intense peek at the damaged space station has been released.

Cuaron knows how to make good sci-fi, and fans have been anticipating this one for ages. Everyone from Robert Downey Jr. to Natalie Portman was up for the lead roles at one time, but Clooney and Bullock look like they'll be a good fit.

Here’s the synopsis:

Dr. Stone (Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they've lost any link to Earth... and any chance for rescue.

The flick was supposed to open last year, but was delayed to allow time for a 3D post-conversion. It’s now set to open Oct. 18.

What do you think? Do you plan on checking this one out?
