You may not see his face, but Anthony Daniels has always been a major part of the Star Wars universe. The British actor plays C-3PO and has made the gold-plated droid one of the most recognizable characters in science fiction. So will he return for J.J. Abrams’ Episode 7?
Daniels, 67, dropped some hints to Digital Spy about whether he’s gotten a call to be involved with the new series. He’s playing coy, but it definitely sounds like there’s a lot he’s not saying.
Here are his comments:
"I'm certainly not sitting by the phone, but it's always nice when it rings. Do you know what I mean? It never occurred to me that it would happen. Everybody's really happy that Disney have taken over the mantle. Kathy Kennedy is so well loved and she is carrying George Lucas's torch so much further."
Hmm, quite teasing, isn’t it? Considering the legacy Daniels has left on the franchise, it’d be hard to think that Abrams wouldn’t reach out to have him involved. Plus, after seeing how playful Daniels is about the whole thing, he’s almost certainly hiding something.
Almost every Star Wars project has found a place for those delightful droids, and it’d stand to reason Abrams wouldn’t want to buck the trend.
What do you think? Will C-3PO (and his pal R2-D2) be involved?
