X-Men 3 storyboards show action-packed Sentinel scene we never got to see

You’d think after four X-Men films we’d have gotten a good take on the classic mutant-killing robots the Sentinels by now, but it hasn’t happened. Turns out Brett Ratner had planned to film one all the way back in 2006 but it didn’t make the cut.

There was apparently a pretty epic attack scene in the original script for X-Men: The Last Stand, but it was cut at some point between storyboarding and filming.

Luckily for us, the storyboards for the proposed Danger Room scene have finally made it out into the wild, showing Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) and Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) vaporized at the hands of a giant killer ‘bot.

The sketches seem to be an extended take on the training scene we saw in the film, which hinted at the awesomeness of the Sentinels but failed to deliver (much like the film as a whole).

So while we wait for Bryan Singer to finally deliver some great Sentinel action with his time-travel epic X-Men: Days of Future Past, check out the scene that could have been back in Last Stand.
