With more than two dozen main characters, HBO’s Game of Thrones has to pull off a pretty massive juggling act to keep up with all those storylines. Sadly, that means at least one beloved character will be heading to the sidelines in season three.
Peter Dinklage, who plays fan favorite character Tyrion, told Entertainment Weekly that the focus in season three has shortened his shooting schedule for the upcoming third season. As other characters step into the forefront, it sounds like Tyrion will receive a little less of the focus this year.
Here are his comments:
"I don't mind. My character probably minds. It's still fun, but easier. I've had fewer days shooting. With all the [show's] different storylines, the focus sometimes shifts, which is fine. [Tyrion's] a survivor. He crawls his way back, to a certain extent. But that's what's fun about this character. He'll make the best out of every situation no matter what position he's put in."
It’s sad to hear there won’t be quite as much Tyrion as we’re used to this season, but it makes sense with a show this sweeping in scope. There are a lot of balls in the air now, and it sounds like the writers will be juggling a few different ones for a while.
So Tyrion fans, savor as much Dinklage as you’re able to get when the new season premieres on Sunday, because there might not be too much.
Are you sad to hear Tyrion won’t have as much screen time in the new season?
