Talks for an Evil Dead 4/Army of Darkness 2 have begun, but what does the once and future Ash want from a new movie?
We've had some time to bask in the glorious news that Sam Raimi is planning to get together with his brother, Ivan, to pen a new Evil Dead over the summer. What we haven't had the chance to do is find out what power-chinned man-about-town Bruce Campbell thinks about this whole situation. First of all, does he really think it's happening?
Let’s not go crazy here. He’s just finished doing Oz, and he’s going to take some time off and he says he’s going to work on it this summer with his brother. He could be smoking cigars at a lakeside cabin for all I know, or he might actually be working, who knows?
All right. He's playing it cool. There are probably even odds at this point that another, non-reboot Evil Dead will make it to theaters, so that's fair. But Bruce has got to be tempted to consider the possibilities, right? So what would he want to see?
I would think the post-Apocalyptic because it gives great possibilities for an Omega Man movie, and who he might be fighting against. It would be a very interesting world.
Campbell was quick to point out that he's fine without whatever "ridiculous story and an outrageous journey" Raimi comes up with. In the end, it's all about getting to work with his old buddy on the franchise that kickstarted their careers.
The fun thing is working again with Sam Raimi. That’s the only reason to do these incredibly difficult movies than work for a guy who you really like working with and who you respect.
We're incredibly excited to see Campbell return to the role that made him a star. Bad or Good Ash, we're not picky -- we just want more!
