Latest trailer for Meyer's Host plays up the Bourne-style action

The super-sexy alien invasion begins in a little over a week with The Host, but don’t think Stephenie Meyer’s latest creation is just an alien-tinged rehash of her vampy love story Twilight. If anything, The Host looks more like a Bourne action movie with aliens.

Though other clips have played up the love story at the heart of the film, the latest trailer strikes a great balance between heartstring-tugging, gunplay and action set pieces.

Based on Meyer’s novel of the same name, The Host follows a young woman’s (Saoirse Ronan) journey through a world invaded by evil aliens. Along the way, she’ll apparently be kicking lots of ass and jumping out of windows. Oh, plus falling in love.

Sci-fi fans, if you need anymore prodding, the film was written and directed by Andrew Niccol (Gattaca), so hopefully this one will have a little something for everyone.

Check out the new trailer below and let us know if you’ll be checking this one out once it opens on March 29:
