8 sci-fi series we wish would use Kickstarter to come back to TV
Veronica Mars just raised $2 million in a single day through crowd funding. Who says sci-fi can't do the same?
While we recognize that much of sci-fi relies on space battles and high-budget special effects, the truth is that some of the best the genre has to offer came in the form of more low-fi-grounded fare. Many of those shows ended before their time. More still simply have been gone for so long that we feel like they are due for a comeback.
With that in mind, we present eight shows we think should get their proverbial butts to Kickstarter and let their fans help them bring these characters, concepts and dreams back. Whether it's a movie, a miniseries or an all-out new season, we're game for anything.

Torchwood
Miracle Day may not have been the overwhelming success that the BBC and Starz were hoping for, but we all know that John 'Captain Jack' Barrowman is always down for more and so are we.
Twin Peaks
All right, it's not so much sci-fi as it is just plain weird, but the show most certainly did end on a doozy of a cliffhanger and we've heard David Lynch was thinking of bringing the series back. Well, what better way to make it happen then with the power of intense and long-lived fan adoration?
X-Files
Even all these years later, the truth is still out there waiting for us. Even if Scully and Mulder didn't come back, it's high time the X-Files be re-opened..
The Twilight Zone
We've heard rumors that the show might be due for a return, but why leave it to chance? After decades of serialized storytelling in sci-fi, aren't we way over due for a return to the fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man?
Jericho
For a show that started out with the simple concept of small town folk trying to survive after the end of the world, it took a long journey and, considering fans were able to rally for more episodes (and a comic series) once before, we can't imagine any reason they wouldn't be able to do it again with the power of Kickstarter.
Max Headroom
A dystopian society ruled by TV networks? Somehow, that seems even more relevant now than ever. Just imagine Max popping up as ads on every website! Don't turn that dial, friends. A return of this series could be imminent with the power of crowdsourcing.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
The second season ended with John poised to truly begin his journey towards becoming the last hope for humanity against Skynet. We were cut off from this story just as it was getting great! Kickstarter could finally bring the robo-apocalypse back. All this plus more Summer Glau. Hooray!
Firefly
There has never been a show with a more dedicated fanbase than this one. Granted, it would take a pretty penny to fit the bill for even a miniseries, but if Veronica Mars can raise $2 million in a day, we imagine Firefly could raise several times that.
