James McAvoy may have just revealed [REDACTED] is returning to X-Men

It seems we just got (unofficial) word that another mutant from Bryan Singer's previous X-flicks will return to the fold for Days of Future Past.

The cast of the next X-Men flick is already gigantic, but we're all still wondering how much bigger it'll get before director Bryan Singer decides the epic tale has an equally epic gathering of stars. Singer's been making a lot of the casting announcements for the film himself, but in a recent interview with Heat Radio in London, co-star James McAvoy also let a name slip.

Look at the quote below, and see if you can find the name that's not like the others (meaning a name that hadn't already been announced for the flick).

"It’s huge, the cast is huge," McAvoy said. "You got me, [Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender,] Nick Hoult will be back and he’s just blossoming massively over [in America]. Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage I hear mentioned – I don’t know if that’s happening. 'Huge' Jackman is coming back. He’s massive. He's about 7-foot-5 and musclier than Satan in the film Legend.”

Did you catch it?

Yup, McAvoy dropped Alan Cumming's name. Cumming played fan-favorite mutant Nightcrawler in X2: X-Men United, only to drop out of the franchise when it came time to make X-Men: The Last Stand three years later. Nightcrawler is a key member of the X-Men in the 1981 comic-book version of Days of Future Past, so it would be great to see him back on screen for this film, but right now only McAvoy has said publicly that Cumming will return. So, until we get word from Singer or someone at Fox that Cumming's definitely on board, we have to be cautiously optimistic about this.

What do you think? Did McAvoy drop a name that isn't certain, or is this a sign that we'll have an official Nightcrawler announcement in the coming days?
