Whedon reveals how he would've handled that new Star Wars trilogy

It’s all but confirmed that some or all of the original cast members will be coming back in  J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII, but had geek god Joss Whedon gotten the job, he’d have taken a very different approach.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Whedon revealed how he would’ve handled new Star Wars films. Not surprisingly, the Avengers director would’ve preferred a more unique approach to the series.

Had Whedon taken the reins, Han Solo and the Skywalkers would’ve been long gone in favor of some new characters to move the narrative in a new direction:

"You know, I wouldn't go back, I'd go forward. I would want to create characters that would resonate the way that they did.”

Of course, Whedon is too wrapped up with his multi-picture deal over at Marvel to do much of anything (except for his small side projects), so this is all just wishful thinking. But man, after seeing his take on spacefaring action with Firefly, it sure would’ve been fun.

What do you think? Do you wish Whedon could’ve taken a crack at Star Wars?
