Rumor of the Day: Marvel's big movie plans for the Hulk revealed

So how does the Hulk fit into Marvel's Phase 2 and Phase 3, anyway?  Well, rumor has it ...

Marvel has an awful lot of movies coming out over the next few years -- Thor 2, Cap 2, Iron Man 3, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant Man and even Doctor Strange, but where's the love for the Hulk?  As far as we've heard, he won't even be seen again until Avengers 2 comes out.  Beyond that, we've only gotten, at best, a maybe as to whether he'd get his own movie after that.

Hold on to your hats, though, kids, and watch out for potential spoilers, because the latest rumor is that Hulk is going to be getting his own film in a very, very big way.

Supposedly, Avengers 2 will introduce Marvel's equivalent of the Illumanti -- a group of the most elite and brilliant superhero minds.  Apparently, toward the end of Avengers 2, this group will launch the Hulk into space because they feel he is too dangerous to be left on Earth.

This is where things get really interesting.  The Hulk movie will be based on Greg Pak's story Planet Hulk, which saw the green guy go head to head with aliens.  Spoiler alert -- he wins.

But that's still not the end of it.  Avengers 3, allegedly, will be loosely based on Hulk's return story, World War Hulk, wherein he systematically beats down the Avengers for betraying him.

That's a lot to take on board.  Has Marvel got things planned out that far into Phase 3?  And are they willing to make a film that would require that much CGI despite the costs and even after seeing how badly DC's CG-fest Green Lantern flopped?

What do you think?
