Rumor of the Day: Potter director + Simon Pegg in for Star Wars

The rumor mill continues to churn around Disney’s grand plan for Star Wars. The latest report? Sci-fi and fantasy vets Simon Pegg and Alfonso Cuaron might be joining the mix.

Marketsaw is reporting a rumor that both Cuaron (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) and Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) will be involved with the new line of films, though they have no idea in what capacity.

Cuaron is a solid director and has genre experience from his stint on Harry Potter, so it's certainly possible he could be in talks to direct another sequel or one of the oft-rumored spinoffs.

As for Pegg? He’s much more mysterious, considering he’s proven to be a solid actor and writer. He’s also a huge Star Wars fan, and definitely has the chops to pen a great standalone script about anything from a young Han Solo to a kickass Yoda tale. Or heck, maybe he’ll pop up in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII in a supporting role. The options are endless.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if some or all of this turned out to be true.

What do you think? Would you like to see Cuaron and Pegg tackle the Star Wars universe?
