8 actresses who'd make a much better April in TMNT than Megan Fox
Fans already had some massive concerns about Michael Bay’s proposed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but even more red flags went up when he cast his former Transformers leading lady, Megan Fox, as the fan-favorite character April.
But instead of Fox, who might we prefer in the role of the intrepid TV reporter who befriends the pizza loving crime fighters?
Yes, Fox brings the movie-star good looks, but she also brings a lot of tabloid baggage that could distract from all the nostalgic fun. Oh, and there’s also the fact that she’s just not a great actress and doesn’t seem like a good fit for the classic April of yore.
Considering Bay is at the helm, we already pretty much know we’re in for a shallow bit of story with a few hundred million dollars in effects work. By going back to the well with Fox, it makes us wonder if the director doesn’t see TMNT as his next big, classic franchise to ride for a few more big-budget sequels.
Since April could likely be sticking around for several films, here are some other leading ladies who we think could bring the character we all know and love to the big screen and do a much, much better job.
Michael Bay, we hope you’re reading.

Boo, Megan Fox! Here are eight actresses we'd rather have play April in Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man)
Stone has already proven she can take on an iconic role and revitalize a franchise as Spidey’s new Gwen Stacy, and would be a welcome addition to the Ninja Turtles universe. She has that fun, quirky vibe that would be a perfect fit for the young, gumshoe reporter.
Felicia Day (Supernatural, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog)
She’s a geek goddess. There’s not really much to say other than that. No, she’s not a massive name in Hollywood, but Day oozes sci-fi cred—which is something Bay desperately needs for this film. She’s the queen of quirky, and you couldn’t help but have a good time watching her hang out with a bunch of crime-fighting turtles.
Emma Watson (Harry Potter)
Watson is looking to break out from her well-known run in the Harry Potter franchise as Hermione Granger, and a big role in a Michael Bay explosion-palooza could be a great way to show she can carry a franchise not based on a J.K. Rowling book. Throughout the 137 Potter films, Watson proved she can play a wide range of emotions. She could more than handle the iconic role of April.
Amy Adams (Man of Steel)
Yeah, she’s not really known for her sci-fi roles, but all that will change later this year when Man of Steel opens wide. Adams would skew a little older than most of these options, but she’s playing Lois Lane, so she’d already have the reporter thing down pat for April. Adams could bring a seriousness to the role, which could be a good (or bad) thing depending on Bay’s approach.
Jordana Brewster (Chuck, The Faculty)
Brewster is currently bouncing between the Fast and the Furious films, but before that she had some great sci-fi roles. She kicked some ass on the 90s classic The Faculty, and had a few fantastic episodes on NBC’s beloved Chuck. She could play the role with a little bit of mystery, which would be a nice change of pace for Bay’s usual style of hitting us over the head with a frying pan.
Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass)
At just 16 years old, Moretz has grown up a lot since she burst onto the scene as Hit-Girl. But, if Bay wanted to go a little younger for the role, she’d be a fantastic option for a teenage version of April. Plus, with Moretz’s extensive experience with ass-kicking, she could join in on the crime fighting fun.
Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men: First Class, The Hunger Games)
Yeah, she’s probably a little busy being at the middle of two hit franchises, but Lawrence is one of the hottest actresses on the scene right now. She would bring a ton of sci-fi cred to the role and some of that Katniss sassiness to the character.
Imogen Poots (Fright Night)
Poots is one of those actresses on the verge of breaking big, and her memorable turn as the leading lady in the critically underrated Fright Night reboot showed she has all the charisma needed to be the next April. She’s is the epitome of the gorgeous girl next door, which is a big part of what made April so great.
