After The Hunger Games became a massive hit, the studio started working double-time to get the sequel prepped for release this year. They’ve finally revealed some new promo materials, and it’s easy to see that Catching Fire will usher in a whole new look for the sci-fi franchise.
Two new posters have been unveiled promoting Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta’s (Josh Hutcherson) victory tour in the wake of their shocking victory in the 74th annual Hunger Games, showing off a glossy new look for the series.
The posters set the stage for more world-building and a bigger budget, which is likely what we’ll see once this one opens on November 22.
The story will pick up after the competition, with Katniss and Peeta bouncing around the districts on a victory tour. But along the way, Katniss will start to sense the seeds of rebellion brewing.
It’ll be interesting to see how director Francis Lawrence handles the subject matter, which is essentially the narrative bridge between the intro and the insanity to come in the two-part finale, Mockingjay. Those middle films are always tough to get right, especially when you know the sequels are already prepping in preproduction.
