Merle picks a side (and the shoot out continues) in 7 Walking Dead pics

The clash with Woodbury finally began last week on The Walking Dead, and judging by these pics from Sunday’s episode, the battle will be raging for a while. So how does Merle fit in?

After going AWOL for an episode, Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Merle (Michael Rooker) showed up at the prison just in time to save Rick (Andrew Lincoln) from becoming walker bait during the Governor’s attack.

Everyone was too busy having a firefight to address his return, but look for that to be a major issue in this Sunday’s episode, “I Ain’t a Judas.” We don’t know how that debate will shake out, but some new pics offer a hint at which side Daryl and Merle will land on once the war hits the fan.

Though we only see Daryl and Merle together, you can tell by the backdrop that they’re standing in a defensive position in front of the prison—meaning they’re probably siding with the prison gang. Not much of a surprise for Daryl, obviously, but it’ll be great to see if Merle can try to seek some redemption this time around.
