Game of Thrones star may join Guardians as Drax the Destroyer

The cast for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is shaping up. They've already found their Star-Lord in actor Chris Pratt. Now they've found the muscle for Drax the Destroyer (Arthur Douglas). Latino Review reports that the studio's in talks with Jason Momoa for the part.

Earlier this week, Momoa traveled to London and auditioned for the role. Even though he had stiff competition with Isaiah Mustafa, Dave Bautista, and Brian Patrick, who also tested for Drax, he nailed it. Sources claim Momoa made such a good impression that Marvel offered him the role.

The actor's reps replied with a counteroffer and now they're officially in talks! Momoa is best known for playing Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones and headlining the 2011 Conan reboot. He seems like the perfect fit for the character.

According to Wikipedia:

Arthur Douglas was a human whose family was attacked and killed by the supervillain Thanos. Needing a champion to combat Thanos, the being known as Kronos took Arthur's spirit and placed it in a powerful new body, and Drax the Destroyer was born. Drax's powers included enhanced strength and resilience, flight, and the ability to project energy blasts from his hands.

Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters Aug. 1, 2014.

What do you think of Momoa as Drax? Is he the right choice?
