9 Star Wars collectibles we saw at Toy Fair you're gonna wanna own
For Star Wars fans, the annual American International Toy Fair going on this week in New York City is the epicenter of announcements concerning new collectibles and toys coming out for the franchise this year. Always a show standard, the depth of the Star Wars merchandise coming soon doesn’t feel as expansive as in previous years, but there’s still plenty of tempting items that got our internal Force revving.

Lego Jabba's Sail Barge
You can’t go wrong with a Lego play set that includes a hideously cute Hutt figure and a Lego Slave Leia ... (Available August 2013, $119.99)
Lego Jabba's Sail Barge
This 850 piece set allows you to build the iconic barge that was meant to allow Jabba the best vantage point in which to observe Luke and Han getting swallowed in the Sarlacc Pit. As we know, that didn’t unfold as the Hutt planned. (Available August 2013, $119.99)
Hasbro 13" Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader Figure
Ever want to act out the very moment Anakin Skywalker fully turned to the Dark Side of the Force? Thanks to Hasbro, you can now reproduce that iconic moment with their 13” light and sound action figure that lets you transition him from Jedi into Sith. You start off with the figure (featuring the likeness of Hayden Christensen and his voice) clutching Anakin’s blue lightsaber in hand.

Next, by attaching the cowl of Darth Vader, the breast plate and then the Vader helmet, the figure’s tech must read the midi-chlorians which say Anakin is going through some changes.
Hasbro 13" Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader Figure
Once the mask is locked in place, the voice box now only issues Darth’s menacing breath and iconic voice, and the lightsaber magically turns red. Yeah, that’s pretty cool. (Available Fall 2013, $24.99)
Kotobukiya Silicon Molds
Kotobukiya blew fan minds with their Han Solo in Carbonite ice cube trays a few years ago. Based on that huge success, the company has now supersized their line and will offer larger scale molds of Han, R2-D2 and the Millennium Falcon. They can be used for full-sized cakes, gelatin forms, big candy bars, or how about a big bar of Solo soap? (Available 2013, $14.99 each).
Kotobukiya Silicon Molds
And during the hot summer, you’re going to need a huge, perfectly formed Death Star ice ball to cool your beverage of choice, so Kotobukiya also has that covered with their circular freezer mold in stores now. ($9.99)
Hasbro Black Series Action Figures
Star Wars action figures get fancy and bigger this year at Hasbro as they transition their popular Marvel six-inch scale for the first time ever to Star Wars with the Black Series. Sculpted in conjunction with Gentle Giant, the line was recently revealed with X-Wing Pilot Luke Skywalker. There will also be R2-D2, Darth Maul, a Sand Trooper and four more to be announced later this year. Hasbro says the idea for characters is to take an iconic scene from a movie and create a figure around it so you are transported instantly to that moment. Looks pretty good so far! (Available Fall 2013, $19.99)
Bladez Toyz Inflatable R2-D2
The chirpy Droid has been reproduced in every way possible over the decades which is why this inflatable RC version of R2-D2 caught our eye. Created by UK Bladez Toyz, “Pump and Play” R2-D2 allows the operator to move the little guy forward, back, left, right, perform stunts and 360-degree spins. Because he’s essentially made of air, you can also breathe easier about your furniture. (US retailer TBD in 2013, $60.00)
DST ¼ Scale Jawa Bank
Diamond Select Toys Star Wars vinyl banks are making a size adjustment with new ¼ scale versions featuring a Jawa and Yoda which fit alongside DST’s ¼” action figure line. They feature the kind of attention to detail, and lower price points, that bring smiles to collector’s faces. We almost traded our smart phone with this guy. (Available spring 2013).
Lego Mandalorian Speeder
Darth Maul is a Star Wars superstar but it’s not often collectors get a cool variation on his portrayal outside of the typical dual light sabers and black cowl. However Lego’s Mandalorian Speeder set remedies the status quo with a Maul figure post Phantom Menace bisection. The mini figure feature’s Maul’s cyborg legs, as well as his double-fisted sabers. Sure, it comes with the 211 pieces to make the Speeder too but come on…it’s Darth Maul on metal legs! (Available August 2013, $24.99)
Jakks Pacific 31" Darth Vader
At close to three feet high, Jakks Pacific’s massive Darth Vader can crush pretty much any action figure scale that dares cross it. Despite the size, the figure is articulated and features that menacing iconic red light saber we all love. (Available 2013, $29.99)
Hasbro Angry Birds Collectibles
If you have a tablet or smart phone, there’s a good chance you paid up for the Star Wars version of Angry Birds in 2012. Now you can hold the bird and pig variations in your hot little hand with 50 collectible mini figures from the game. There’s even a Star Destroyer carrier that provides a special code to unlock exclusive content in the App game. (Available 2013, various price points)
