You know that other post-credit scene from Thor: The Dark World? Well, that wasn’t really Natalie Portman that Chris Hemsworth locked lips with.
Minor spoiler ahead for Thor: The Dark World!
As Marvel often does, those post-credit scenes were shot after principal filming had finished on the film. Star Chris Hemsworth (Thor) was in Hong Kong at the time, and Natalie Portman's (Jane) schedule wouldn’t allow her to head out there to hook up for the big kiss scene. So Portman shot her bit seperately, and they got a little creative for the rest.
The solution? The director dressed up Hemsworth’s real-life wife Elsa Pataky in a Jane outfit, put a wig on her head, and let the happily married couple share a passionate kiss. Aww.
Here’s how Portman explained it to the Daily News:
"It was for reshoots (after the film was finished) and he was working in Hong Kong and I couldn't get there because I was working on my own film … [So] they put his wife [actress Elsa Pataky] in my wig and costume, that's why it was so passionate.”
Considering all the debate over those Thor post-credit scenes, it’s nice to hear an adorable story come out of it all. But, the big question — did you notice it wasn’t Portman?
