Is a Hulk movie definitely happening? Lou Ferrigno seems to think so

We've been waiting ever since The Avengers for assurances that a new solo Hulk flick is headed our way, and now we've got some from the original enormous green rage monster.

The bigwigs at Marvel Studios have been dancing around the possibility of a standalone film for Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk ever since his incarnation of the character was a hit with fans in The Avengers. Rumors have included everything from a film centered around the Marvel storyline Planet Hulk to a film built on concepts used in Marvel's current Indestructible Hulk series, but Avengers writer Joss Whedon personally shot down that Planet Hulk movie rumor, and Ruffalo himself has said that the only thing planned for his character at the moment is Age of Ultron, despite assurances from one Marvel exec that a Hulk film would happen if Avengers was a hit.

The bottom line, though, is that while we've heard a lot of talk about a potential Hulk film, all we really known right now is that the character will show up in Age of Ultron with the rest of the Avengers. No one at Marvel Studios has even come close to confirming that a Hulk film is being made, but at least one person is already convinced it's on the way: Lou Ferrigno.

Ferrigno, who played the title role in the Incredible Hulk TV series from 1978 to 1982 and briefly provided the voice of the Hulk in The Avengers, has been an advocate for and fan of the character ever since the big green guy made him a star. He still loves to talk about both his version of the Hulk and the character's future onscreen, and when Flicks and the City caught up with him at this year's Collectormania, he managed to do both. After briefly discussing his years as the Hulk, Ferrigno was asked if he thought a new standalone flick for the character was possible. His answer:

"They are doing a Hulk movie, I think after the next Avengers," he said.

No hesitation, no "probably" or "maybe," just "they are doing a Hulk movie." That could mean that Ferrigno's already been in touch with Marvel about popping up again in a Hulk adventure, or it could mean that he's simply confident that, with so many superhero projects already confirmed to be in development at Marvel Studios, they're bound to get back around to the Hulk eventually. Whatever the case, Ferrigno didn't elaborate on how he apparently knows this information, but he did say that because the last Avengers flick made Hulk "a star," Disney has agreed to give him his own movie. Again, we don't know exactly how he has that information, or if it's more wishful thinking than actual fact, but he certainly seems confident that a Hulk flick is already a go.

Check out the full video interview with Ferrigno below. What do you think? Is this Hulk movie real, or is Ferrigno just trying to make it real?
