How Jennifer Lawrence nearly died while filming latest Hunger Games pic

During production for Mockingjay, things got way more deadly than was planned.

Everyone's favorite tribute, Jennifer Lawrence, wound up in some very real danger during filming for the two-part finale to the Hunger Games film adaptations.

During the scene she was filming, Lawrence was supposed to be leading a mass rebellion through a long tunnel. The plan was for there to be a sudden burst of smoke, but the cast and crew got more than they bargained for when one of the fog machines broke. Says a source from the set, "Filming came to an abrupt halt when this fog machine broke and began spewing so much dense smoke during a tunnel sequence that Jennifer literally disappeared from sight -- and everybody panicked."

Apparently, there was so much smoke that the performers started coughing uncontrollably, became disoriented and couldn't find their way out of the tunnel.

According to the source, "An assistant director screamed, 'Shut off the smoke machines, get those big fans running ... and get Jennifer out of there!'"

One hopes they also meant to get the other actors out of there, too.

Thankfully, Lawrence and her fellow performers escaped in time, although not entirely unscathed. The source claims that "Jennifer's one tough gal, but she looked really shook up, and kept complaining she felt very nauseous - like she was suffering from vertigo."

Here's hoping everyone's fine now. While it's certainly generally accepted that sets for action films can be a bit dangerous, it's still tremendously harrowing when something goes awry.
