Doctor Who gets terrifyingly festive in 29 new Time of the Doctor pics

Ahead of its Christmas Day release (13 days and counting), BBC America has released 29 new pics from Doctor Who’s upcoming Xmas episode, “The Time of the Doctor.”

As you'll see, the new pics look more freakishly terrifying than festive; or, rather, they look festively terrifying (it IS Doctor Who, after all, and with the Doctor heading to Trenzalore ... well, they're bound to be), with a good dollop of Daleks, Cybermen, the Silence and a Weeping Angel (or two), scary kids’ drawings and even a wooden puppet Doctor! Oh, and the village people. (No, not the Village People, people.)

"The Time of the Doctor" is bound to be bittersweet, since it marks Matt Smith's swan song as the Doctor, but the actor has promised that his Doctor (be he Doctor Eleven or Thirteen -- frankly, this is all too bloody timey-wimey confusing! Darn it, Steven Moffat!) will "go out with a bang, a crash and a wallop."

He added:

"Steven [Moffat] has written a brilliant, adventurous, funny episode and I'm really thrilled with it," he said. "I'm pleased it's really funny and mad. When I got to the last 20 pages it was quite a hard read for me, but I hope it's going to be a belter.
"Steven's managed to tie in plot points and narratives that have been threaded through over years, and I think that's ingenious."

Doctor Who’s special yuletide episode, “The Time of the Doctor,” will air on Christmas Day. Have a look at the pics below and let us know what you think!
