Look who'll fill Bruce Willis' shoes in Syfy's 12 Monkeys pilot

12 Monkeys is one step closer to becoming a reality. The pilot, which is based on the film of the same name, has found its lead. In the original, Bruce Willis played James Cole, a time-traveling convict sent to the past. His goal is to gather intel about a virus that nearly destroys Earth's human population.

The network has tapped Aaron Stanford to play the aforementioned Cole. Over the past three years, he's appeared as a regular on The CW's Nikita playing tech wiz Seymour Birkhoff. He's also known for his role as John Allerdyce, aka Pyro, in Bryan Singer's X2: X-Men United.

The 12 Monkeys pilot was written by Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, from the defunct Terra Nova. Production is slated to begin this month. November will also mark the return of Stanford's other show, Nikita. The fourth and final season premieres Nov. 22.

What do you think of Stanford as the new Cole?
