Syfy has been telling scary stories for years with reality shows like Ghost Hunters, but now the network is teaming up with Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak for a freaky new scripted series.
Dubbed The Woods, the new mystery thriller sounds like a whole different animal when compared to Chuck. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the series “centers on a young woman who returns to the mysterious wooded mansion her sister disappeared from when they were girls, only to learn that the sinister beings that took her are still there.”
If this one makes it through the development phase, it sounds like it could be a nice outside-the-box companion piece to Ron Moore’s (Battlestar Galactica) hard sci-fi series Helix, debuting in 2014.
The Woods is just one of many Syfy series in the works, along with an adaptation of Beowulf; a new show based on the sci-fi film classic 12 Monkeys; Dominion, based on the angel-war film Legion; and Bryan Fuller’s quirky space series High Moon, among others.
What do you think of the pitch behind The Woods? Do you plan on checking it out?
