Sounds like Marvel's Ant-Man casting might already be a done deal

With director Edgar Wright set to ramp up work on Ant-Man sooner rather than later, it sounds like some confirmed casting news could be coming in the coming weeks or months. So who's in the lead?

We’ve already heard that Paul Rudd (This Is 40) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises) were on the short list to take on the title role as Hank Pym, but now it sounds like Rudd has won out and a contract is imminent.

The guys at Schmoes Know are reporting that both Rudd and rumored Janet van Dyne (aka the Wasp) actress Rashida Jones are on the verge of signing deals for the Phase 3 Marvel flick. The two have worked together before on the flick I Love You, Man, and Rudd did a guest stint on Jones’ NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation a few seasons ago. The duo had solid chemistry in I Love You, Man, and casting reports have indicated Wright was most impressed with how the two stars played off one another during screen tests.

But just because Jones might be bringing Janet van Dyne to life, that apparently doesn’t mean the Wasp will show up in this flick. Current reports indicate the character’s heroic future is hinted at in Ant-Man, which will set up Wasp’s debut in Avengers 3. Think that’ll be enough to keep director Joss Whedon around for Phase 3? Fingers crossed.

Do you like these casting options, or are you hoping Wright will go in a different direction?
