New Star Wars info hints at Darth Vader's return, Episode VII release date

Oh, you’ve got to love the marketing folks. Want to know what someone is cooking up years in advance? Just snag a marketing schedule.

Some intriguing Star Wars news has come out of the Brand Licensing Show in London’s Olympia, via an alleged photo of a Disney/Lucasfilm schedule of upcoming intergalactic goodies.

What’s there? Not surprisingly, J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII is penciled in for spring/summer 2015 (which is a bit earlier than the previously rumored autumn date), along with the upcoming 2014 Disney XD series Star Wars: Rebels. There’s also the vague tease of a new digital library and some multiplatform stuff (i.e. games, PR stuff, etc.).

But, the most intriguing entry was for “Darth Vader Themed TV Specials,” which are set to debut in summer 2014. What exactly that might entail? We have no idea. A documentary, perhaps? Some cross-promotion between existing Disney shows, by tossing in some Vader story lines? We have absolutely no idea, but it could mean he's coming back in some capacity. Somewhere.

What do you think Disney is cooking up with this one?
