Jurassic World may have just found its star

Jurassic World

As Jurassic World inches closer to the start of production, word comes that the movie may have landed its leading man.

And no, it's not Sam Neill or Jeff Goldblum coming back for a victory lap (at least, not yet). Nope, it appears that Josh Brolin is the person of interest for director Colin Trevorrow and Universal Pictures.

According to The Wrap, Brolin is in their sights but a formal offer has yet to be made. There are no details about what character he's playing, since plot info is nonexistent to the public at this point, but he is expected to be the film's lead.

If cast, Brolin will join actors Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson in the movie. We know that the latter two are playing brothers, but that's just about all we've got for now.

Brolin is one of the busiest actors in Hollywood these days, starring in a remake of the Asian cult film Oldboy next month and the Jason Reitman-directed drama Labor Day in December. He'll also show up in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For sometime next year. And yes, he was apparently in the running to play Batman in the Man of Steel sequel before Ben Affleck was offered the keys to the Batmobile.

Will you pay cold hard cash to see Josh Brolin square off against an angry T-Rex? Jurassic World will open in theaters on June 12, 2015.
