Worried Tron: Uprising producer begs: 'We need more viewers!'

After premiering to very solid numbers last year, the Disney XD series Tron: Uprising has seen its viewership tank to approximately one-third of its premiere. So does the show still have a chance to survive? Yes, but it'll take some work.

Producer Edward Kitsis told IGN that the show isn't officially canceled yet, but without a significant jump in viewership, it's not looking good. Set between the original Tron and the recent sequel Tron: Legacy, the series focuses on a young program (voiced by Elijah Wood) Tron is training to help lead the rebellion.

Here are Kitsis' comments, where he essentially begs you to watch the show:

"I don't know what the future [of Tron: Uprising] is now. I know at the present, I can say we need more viewers. I'm so proud of that show and I love that show and anyone who watches it loves that show. The problem is, not enough people are watching it. And so I would love to sound the alarm, because I love the characters and the world and it's really... It's a shame that more people aren't watching it, because I think they're missing out.

At this point, I don't believe its fate has been decided. So if people keep watching, then there's still a chance. Please watch. Tell your friends!"

With great effects and solid writing, It's a shame the series hasn't found more of an audience. But you have to wonder if the franchise is too old to attract the tween Disney XD audience, and if the Tron audience is too old to find it on Disney XD.

Have you been watching? Why do you think the series is pulling in such dreadful ratings?
