Though the mystery surrounding Benedict Cumberbatch's baddie has captured most of the attention on Star Trek Into Darkness, another acclaimed star also has a mysterious role. So who is Alice Eve playing?
Eve, who recently starred in The Raven and Men In Black 3, joined the Trek sequel under a less-scrutinized wave of secrecy when production ramped up, which has had hardcore fans speculating for a while now.
But thanks to a press event reported by Bleeding Cool, we know who she's playing: Carol Marcus.
Portrayed by Bibi Besch in the Star Trek: The Original Series era, Marcus is a molecular biologist working for the Federation. Like most ladies, she had a relationship with Capt. Kirk (the two actually had a child together), so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out in the new alt-timeline.
As fans likely know, Marcus' character also played a role in a famed Khan story at the time—meaning that if Cumberbatch isn't Khan (which is looking less likely) director J.J. Abrams might at least be setting that up for the future.
What do you think? How will Abrams and company use Marcus here?
