Collecting toys, statues, artwork, limited-edition tchotchkes and what-have-you from a favorite piece of fiction is a lot of fun. They help make that intangible love into something we can hold in our hands. But there's such a thing as getting too attached, and, sadly, that's what happened here.
Erik Jensen and his cousin, Raymond Ogara, were having fun over a couple of drinks on an average Wednesday night. For some reason, they decided they would imbibe from a set of collectible Marvel glasses. That's when everything went vertigo.
In his inebriated condition, Ogara accidentally dropped the glass he was drinking from, causing it to shatter on the ground. From there, the facts get hazy. Jensen remembers an argument and the two "play wrestling," but nothing else. The facts, however, tell a much darker tale.
When the police arrived, they discovered Ogara dead in a pool of his own blood. Apparently Jensen stabbed Ogara repeatedly with a pair of scissors. Jensen was arrested and charged with murder in the first degree. His bail has been set at $800,000.
Things can be fragile, and human life that much more so. At the end of the day, no matter how cool and complete a collection is ... it's just stuff.
