With his Psycho prequel series Bates Motel ramping up at A&E, former Lost producer Carlton Cuse is looking for a little help developing the show's intro credit. Who's he asking? That'd be you.
In a neat bit of grassroots marketing, Cuse has put out a public call for ideas on how to introduce the series in a 15-second credit clip that will ultimately open the show on a weekly basis.
Though this might be a prequel to the horror classic Psycho, Cuse warns you shouldn't go all slasher-style if you hope to win.
He explained the contest to The Hollywood Reporter:
"We want to give fans the chance to participate in the show. We're looking for an awesome 15-second title sequence that captures the feel of Bates Motel -- not as a slasher/horror show, but as a complex, character-based thriller."The contest is now open and will last until Jan. 3, 2013. Video entries can be submitted via the show's Facebook page.
The show, set several years before the events of Psycho, stars Vera Farmiga as Norma Bates and Freddie Highmore as her young son Norman. Former Lost star Nestor Carbonell is also attached in a supporting role.

What do you think of this gimmick? Marketing stunt, or brilliant idea to take advantage of the fandom?
