In the grand scheme of things, the release of Star Trek Into Darkness is just around the corner, but in true J.J. Abrams fashion, few concrete details are known about the story. Today, however, we FINALLY have the first official synopsis.
Mind you, details are still scarce, but we'll take anything we can get. So here's what's been revealed thus far:
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.
As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
Sounds like an enemy is coming from within. The big question is—who? Moreover, how literal is this detonation? The use of the word "terror" seems to indicate very literal. And could the "one man weapon of mass destruction" be someone Kirk was close to?
What do you think?
