Concept art shows how much freakier the Munsters could have been

The intriguing pilot for Bryan Fuller's (Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me) modern-day reboot of The Munsters came and went as a TV movie a few weeks ago—but it turns out Mockingbird Lane was originally a lot darker than what made it to screen.

Some new concept art from the development of the series has surfaced online, showing off a truly frightening version of Herman Munster and a vicious version of wolf-boy Eddie Munster. Oh, and Grandpa looks a lot scarier than kooky old Eddie Izzard.

Sadly, this peek behind the scenes will likely be the last we ever see of Mockingbird Lane. Most of the cast has moved on, and Fuller is knee-deep in NBC's new Hannibal series. Factoring in the fact that the ratings were good but not great, you'd have to think this one is done.
