The CW's Arrow is about to meet his match. Jessica De Gouw's heading to Starling City, and she's bringing the Huntress with her. But don't expect her debut to include a bright purple bikini. We've got the first look at her revamped costume.
Over at EW, they published the first official photo of the masked vigilante. Unlike Oliver, Helena Bertinelli has a different code of ethics. They have similar objectives but different means of accomplishing them.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed, "What we really liked was that on an emotional level, she and Oliver are both damaged by their pasts. ... This is the way they're coping, but somehow Oliver has taken the darkness inside with him and is doing something positive with it. She's taken the darkness inside her and is seeking revenge and doesn't care who gets hurt in the process."
And what about her costume? Both Helena and Oliver have a thing for leather and face paint. The show's costume designers wanted to create something realistic that also honors the comic.
"For the Huntress—she's basically wearing a cape and a purple bikini in the comic. That wouldn't play so well. So her costume is much more functional while also being sexy, and you see there are also hints of purple, which ties into her comic book costume," Kreisberg said. "Also, in the comic, Helena is devoutly Catholic. You can see in the Kevlar she's wearing on her chest, it's actually in the shape of a cross, which we thought was really cool."
Huntress makes her Arrow debut Nov. 28. She's slated to appear in two episodes, with the door open for more.
