Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) and Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin). Those two are the power couple—and the romantic heart—of ABC's Once Upon a Time. But did you know that Charming almost never made it past the pilot? Yep, because the character was supposed to be killed off.
That's what showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz revealed to Entertainment Weekly.
The two had originally pitched the idea of killing off Charming in the pilot episode to the network, but ABC was strongly against it.
Edward Kitsis said:
"The reaction from the network executives was unanimous, 'You cannot do this, you've taken away any chance of this show having a happy ending'.
"As dudes, we were like, 'That's what's cool about it!' But then we thought if eight women were having the same reaction, maybe we should listen."
Then they went ahead and hired Thor's Josh Dallas to play Prince Charming/David, making thousands upon thousands of us swoon every Sunday night, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Are you guys shocked that the showrunners wanted to off Prince Charming in the pilot? Are you glad the network stepped up and said no?
