True Blood's fifth season may have ended recently with a bang (God Bill, anyone?) that included Alan Ball's departure as showrunner, but it also looks like season six will start with a bang as well—because HBO has just announced its first casting news for S6 of the hit fantasy series, and it's pretty darn awesome.
Yep! You read that title right: Blade Runner and Ladyhawke actor Rutger Hauer will be joining the cast of Bon Temps as a series regular next season. How bloody cool is that?
According to TV Line's Michael Ausiello, Hauer will play a character named Macklyn who is said to be a "mysterious and sinister figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason."
Color us intrigued. But could Macklyn possibly have some ties to this mysterious vampire guy named Warlow we've heard about during season five but have yet to see? Or perhaps he'll have nothing to do with that particular mystery, and those "deep ties" will turn out to be more "familial" than we think? Or is Macklyn actually Warlow himself?
The mystery deepens ...
Right now, we really don't have anything besides the name of the character Hauer will play, but we're already looking forward to seeing him on the show. Are you?
One thing we know for sure, though, is that once again waiting sucks, because True Blood's sixth season won't start until June 2013.
