It's official: X-Men Days of Future Past has found a director

After X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn dropped out for the sequel, there was some worry as to what would come next for the promising franchise. But put your fears to rest—X-Men Days of Future Past officially has a director. And boy, is it a doozy.

When Vaughn bowed out, the rumor mill started swirling that X-Men and X-Men 2 director Bryan Singer could return to the franchise he helped to put on the map. Now it's official: Singer is back!

Deadline is reporting that Singer's return is a done deal, which should work out pretty well, considering the new sequel is rumored to bridge the gap between the prequel world of First Class and the modern X-Men films by Singer.

It's sad to see Vaughn go, but if anyone can make a seamless transition, it's Singer. Hopefully this should help us all avoid any X-Men: The Last Stand-level dropoff in quality (which saw Brett Ratner brought in to replace Singer) and keep up the current awesomeness.

What do you think? Are you glad to have Singer back on the X-Men?
