Rumor of the Day: 1 of these women might be Ms. Marvel in Avengers 2

Marvel has artfully woven new characters into each of their Phase One superhero films, and rumor has it the lovely Ms. Marvel could be coming in The Avengers 2—and one of these two women could be the one to bring her to life.

Take it with a moderately-sized grain of salt, but The Daily Mail is reporting that British actresses Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau) and Ruth Wilson (The Lone Ranger) are battling it out for the role of Ms. Marvel in director Joss Whedon's eagerly anticipated sequel.

Here's the tidbit verbatim:

"[B]oth [are] hotly tipped to play superhero Ms. Marvel in Avengers 2, the sequel to Avengers Assemble, one of the biggest box office hits of all time.

The new movie is due to begin shooting next year. Whoever is chosen will star alongside Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth, who will reprise their comic-book hero roles."

Ms. Marvel, a superhuman hybrid of human and alien Kree DNA, has showed up in everything from The Avengers to X-Men over the years—so she makes as much sense as anybody to pop up in the next film.

Plus, it's not surprising to hear that Marvel wants to introduce a few more female heroes into the mix, following the dude-heavy team that was The Avengers 1.0.

Check out the two rumored casting options in the gallery below and let us know who you're pulling for:
