Calling all Star Trek fans! We've discovered a competition tailor-made for you. The American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming is holding a contest in promotion of American Archives Month, and it has a sci-fi twist.
You're familiar with tribbles, right? (If you're here, we figure you gotta be.) Those limbless, eyeless, furry creatures debuted in a 1967 episode of Star Trek: The Original Series ("The Trouble with Tribbles") in which they overran the Enterprise before being transported to a Klingon ship. Over time, tribble replicas have become great sci-fi collectors' items. Well, the American Heritage Center owns one of the originals, and they want YOU to name it.
As for the contest, it's called "Name the Tribble." Organizer Rachael Dreyer says all suggestions should have "tribble-esque qualities." If your entry is picked, you'll win a unique montage photograph of Star Trek memorabilia. To participate, email firstname.lastname@example.org and include your name and Tribble Contest in the subject line. You can also post it on the American Heritage Center's Facebook page.
The contest ends Oct. 22.
